Mobile Privacy Policy

Thank you for using the NewMile mobile app ("App"). This Mobile Privacy Policy explains how NewMile Technology, LLC ("NewMile," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, retains, and deletes information when you use our App. This policy applies specifically to the NewMile mobile application and supplements our general Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

When you use our App, we may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account Information. Name, email address, phone number, and company affiliation provided during registration or account setup.

  • Device Information. Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.

  • Location Data. Precise GPS location data, including both foreground and background location data, when you grant permission (see "Location Data" below).

  • Usage Data. App interaction data, feature usage, session duration, and in-app activity logs.

  • Ticket and Job Data. Information related to hauling jobs, load tickets, delivery confirmations, and dispatch activity entered or captured through the App.

  • Camera and Photos. Images captured through the App for ticket documentation and proof-of-delivery purposes, when you grant camera access.

Location Data

Our App collects precise location data, including background location data, to support core transportation and logistics functionality. Specifically, we use location data to:

  • Track truck positions for real-time dispatch and routing.

  • Calculate cycle times between loading and unloading sites using geofence-based tracking.

  • Trigger automated workflows and notifications related to arrivals, departures, and deliveries.

  • Generate operational reports for hauling performance and route optimization.

  • Background location access is required because drivers must be tracked in transit even when the App is not in the foreground. This enables accurate cycle time calculations, automated status updates, and geofence-triggered notifications that are essential to the hauling workflow.

  • You may disable location permissions at any time through your device settings. However, disabling location access will prevent core App functionality from operating correctly, including dispatch tracking, automated job updates, and ticket workflows.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features.

  • Facilitate dispatch, routing, and hauling job management.

  • Generate operational analytics and performance reports.

  • Send notifications related to job status, deliveries, and account activity.

  • Improve and optimize App performance and user experience.

  • Communicate with you about your account or the App.

  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms of service.

Data Sharing

We may share your information with the following parties:

  • Your Employer or Contracting Company. If you use the App as part of your employment or contracting relationship, your location data, job activity, and ticket data may be visible to your employer or the company that manages the hauling operation.

  • Service Providers. We share data with third-party service providers that help us operate the App, including mapping services (e.g., Google Maps, HERE), cloud hosting (e.g., Amazon Web Services), and analytics providers. These providers are contractually obligated to use your data only to perform services on our behalf.

  • Legal Requirements. We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Our retention practices are as follows:

  • Account and profile data is retained for the duration of your active account and for up to 12 months after account deactivation or deletion.

  • Location data is retained for up to 24 months to support operational records, dispute resolution, and service optimization.

  • Job and ticket data is retained for up to 36 months, or longer if required for contractual, regulatory, or legal compliance purposes.

  • Usage and device data is retained for up to 12 months for analytics and App improvement purposes.

When your data is no longer needed for its stated purpose, we securely delete or anonymize it. Anonymized or aggregated data that can no longer identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics and product improvement.

Data Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your personal data at any time. To submit a deletion request:

Upon receiving and verifying your deletion request, we will delete your personal data from our active systems within 30 days. If certain data must be retained for legal, regulatory, or contractual obligations, we will notify you of the specific data being retained and the reason.

Please note that:

  • Uninstalling the App does not delete your account or data from our servers. You must submit a deletion request using one of the methods above.

  • Deletion of your data may prevent you from using the App and may affect your employer's or contracting company's operational records.

  • Data that has been shared with your employer or contracting company as part of normal App operations may be retained by that party under their own data retention policies.

Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. These measures include encryption of data in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the information below.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have additional rights regarding your personal data, including:

  • Access. The right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

  • Correction. The right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.

  • Deletion. The right to request deletion of your personal data (see "Data Deletion" above).

  • Portability. The right to request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

  • Opt-Out. The right to opt out of certain data processing activities.
